Inspired by the art of Manuel Sanjulián, Red Sonja is available in 3 formats: 1/10 for collectible statue fans and 1/10 scale bust and 1/24 for miniature painters.
The statue and the miniature include an alternate body, allowing the model to be displayed without the cloak.
Few writers have captured the imagination of readers quite like Robert E. Howard, whose stories featuring Conan the Cimmerian continue to enthrall audiences. Likewise, few artists have energized viewers with dynamic compositions and a vibrant color palette as masterfully as Spanish artist Manuel Pérez Clemente Sanjulián.
In 2010, these two powerhouses were brought together by Underwood Books in Sword’s Edge, a stunning art book showcasing a beautiful collection of rare and previously unpublished oil paintings. Inspired by classic tales such as Queen of the Black Coast, Rogues in the House and The Tower of the Elephant” Robert E. Howard’s Hyborian Age has never looked more vivid or felt more real.
Among the many paintings featured in Sword’s Edge is Red Sonja, a commissioned work presented on page 44. Interestingly, while the book is dedicated to Howard’s works, its depiction of Red Sonja follows the design established in Marvel Comics by writer Roy Thomas and artist Barry Windsor-Smith in 1973—a fusion of Sonya of Rogatino, Dark Agnes, and Valeria.
On July 26, 2012, the original painting was auctioned by Heritage Auctions, fetching an impressive $6,572.50.
